The Westfries Museum, located on the Roode Steen, tells the story of Hoorn and its rich 17th-century history. The museum is currently closed for renovation. Those who still want to discover more about the city’s history can visit the multimedia show Discover the Story of Hoorn at the same location, or participate in a podwalk through the city center.
In our hotel hallways, large blow-ups of artworks from the Westfries Museum are displayed. Via QR codes, you can discover the story behind the artworks and get acquainted with the history of Hoorn.
The Museum of the 20th Century takes you back to daily life in the last century. From retro interiors and old televisions to recognizable objects from the 50s, 60s, and 70s, it’s a feast of recognition for young and old. Additionally, two rooms are set up with a large historical LEGO collection, fun to discover with children.
The Hoorn–Medemblik Steam Tram Museum offers a special journey through the West Frisian landscape. Step aboard a historic steam tram and experience the charm of travel from yesteryear, with various stop-off options along the way. Throughout the year, different themed rides are organized, such as the Tulip, Pieten, and Christmas Express. A beloved experience, especially for families with children.
